Crossing the border from San Diego to Tijuana usually takes around 15 minutes. You'll go through Mexican Customs with your driver by car, so make sure to have your documents and valid passport ready just in case they need to inspect the car randomly if you pass by inspection they might ask you to fill out the FMM form (5 - 10 minutes)

Visitors from Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and any country that is a member of the Schengen Area or the Pacific Alliance do not need entry visas, as long as they do not plan to stay longer than 180 days.
Regardless of the length of your stay, visitors must fill out the free Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) form at the point of entry from the Mexican border authorities. If you plan to stay in Mexico for more than seven days, you will need to purchase the 180-day FMM permit for approximately $30.
