There are many options in order to get to the border.

  1. Driving & Parking: Depending on traffic, driving from downtown San Diego to the San Ysidro border takes between 20 to 30 minutes. There are many parking options at the border costing approximately $30 to $40 per 24-hour period.

    1. Border Station Parking - https://www.borderparking.com/

      1. 4570 Camino De La Plaza, San Ysidro, CA 92173

    2. International Parking

      1. 729 E San Ysidro Blvd, San Diego, CA 92173

  1. Taxi/Rideshare: It is very easy to take a taxi or a rideshare program (Uber/Lyft) to the border. When instructing the driver, or inputting the address, be sure to indicate that you are going to the “PedEast” border entry located at 795 East San Ysidro Blvd, San Diego, CA 92173. Prices for the taxi or rideshare program vary by distance and type of ride.

  1. Public Transportation - Trolley: The Trolley is an easy and cost-effective way to get to the border. Depending on your origin, the Blue Line’s last stop is the San Ysidro Transit Center. Head South, the McDonalds should be on your left and follow signs and people until you see “to Mexico”. More information can be found at https://www.sdmts.com/.

  1. Public Transportation - Bus: The bus does not have a direct route to PedEast border crossing. More information can be found on https://www.sdmts.com/ or www.maps.google.com and selecting the “transit” (bus) icon.

Depending on who is hosting from Baja Society Tours, we will do our best to try and meet the group on the U.S. side. Regardless, clear instructions will be provided a couple days before the start of the tour stating the meetup location. Don’t worry, walking into Mexico is as simple as presenting your passport and meeting your guide directly after passing through the turnstiles on the Mexico side.

Where do we meet?

We meet at the US/Mexico border in San Ysidro (on the Mexican side).

How do I get to the Meet up location?

We suggest you take an uber to the border. Approx a 20 min drive from downtown San Diego.

We will provide you instructions on how to cross the border and your tour guide and driver will be waiting for you at the meet up location right outside the border

Do you pick up in San Diego

Border Crossing SD - MX: Crossing the border from San Diego to Tijuana usually takes around 15 minutes. You'll go through Mexican Customs with your driver by car, so make sure to have your documents and valid passport ready just in case they need to inspect the car randomly if you pass by inspection they might ask you to fill out the FMM form (5 - 10 minutes)

It's important to note that all U.S. citizens must present a valid passport when crossing the border to and from Tijuana. Visitors from Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and any country that is a member of the Schengen Area or the Pacific Alliance do not need entry visas, as long as they do not plan to stay longer than 180 days.

Regardless of the length of your stay, visitors must fill out the free Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) form at the point of entry from the Mexican border authorities. If you plan to stay in Mexico for more than seven days, you will need to purchase the 180-day FMM permit for approximately $30.

Border Crossing MX - SD: On the way back, we'll provide you with a fast pass option that will take you to the Ready Lane without having to wait in the regular traffic. This fast pass is valid until 9:00pm and usually takes 15 to 30 minutes to cross the border. However, if the trip extends and we need to cross the border after 9:00pm, we'll have to go through the regular lane, which can take around 2 hours on average

When crossing the border back to San Diego, you'll go through US Customs by car with your passport or identification handy. Again, there might be random inspections, so be prepared to leave the vehicle if necessary.
